What
We are looking for a passionate Senior Data Engineer, who will be an internal-facing position responsible for end-to-end data platform processes: collecting, storing, processing and analysing huge data sets. The primary focus will be on choosing optimal solutions to use for these purposes, and then maintaining, implementing, and monitoring them. The Data Engineer will also be responsible for integrating these solutions with the architecture used across the company and externalizing data in a way that empowers end users to answer their own questions through data.
Be an owner
Own, maintain and plan improvements of the data platform infrastructure.
Participate in agile product development process, ensure features are prioritized accurately and releases are delivered on time.
Work alongside quality assurance to deliver a high quality product.
Investigate and recommend new technologies or products to improve data platform system performance, reliability and costs.
Be a solver
Design and implement data structures to enable efficient analytics and reporting.
Build reliable and efficient ETL pipelines for data sync from various data sources.
Work on a low latency streaming solution for a data platform
Sanitize and cleanup analytics data to provide more accurate reports.
Work on identifying relevant data sources for business needs, sourcing missing data, and enhancing the data collection process in general.
Be a team player
Collaborate with the Product team and other stakeholders to design and plan new features.
Prepare and participate in release planning by partnering with Product and QA teams to ensure quality and on-time delivery.
Make decisions adapting to unplanned obstacles to maximize consistency with product roadmap and customer priorities provided by product managers.
Requirements
7+ years experience in data engineering or data related positions
Degree in STEM related area (eg. computer science, electronic engineering, mathematics, physics)
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong communicator; able to convey ideas clearly to a multi-disciplinary team
An exceptional level of data manipulation skills
Location: Zagreb or Bogota
Preferred skills
Experience in financial services or fintech
Experience building stream-processing systems (using messaging systems, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ).
Experience working with large and/or complex datasets
Experience with commercial cloud-based solutions (eg. GCP, AWS, Azure, Oracle)
Experience using cloud pipeline architectures (Google Cloud Platform preferred)
Ability to learn new systems and work with global technology team
Experience with additional programming languages (Javascript, Java, C++, etc.)
School/University Olympic medal competitions in Physics, Maths, Economics, or Programming preffered
